Wherever you are in your health journey, it is important to be kind to yourself and strive to remain positive.

Utilize the following practices to help grow your self-esteem: Ask yourself what being kind looks like and what brings you joy and peace. Examples below can help you connect with things that make you feel good about yourself and the world around you:

  • Write a love letter. But write it to yourself! Writing is a simple yet effective way of putting your thoughts and feelings on paper. If you struggle to get started, imagine writing to your younger self. I recommend mailing your letter to yourself and revisiting it every few months.
  • Surround yourself with supportive people.Just by being around others, our energy and spirits can lift and shift in ways that promote positivity and mindfulness. Reach out to family, friends, or others in the OPTAVIA Community to practice kindness or pay it forward by sharing your key learnings with other new Clients.
  • Keep a gratitude journal. Use a journal to jot down what you are grateful for while also reflecting on the positives in your life since you started the OPTAVIA program. While these positive aspects of your life float around your mind, writing them down makes them permanent and real. Try to establish a designated time and location to write in your journal to help install the habit.
  • Use every mistake to learn. We ALL make mistakes so consider using every mistake as a learning experience to hold you accountable from making the same mistake again in the future. Take it easy on yourself. Remind yourself that you did what you could with the tools and knowledge you had at the time, and now is the time to move on based on your learnings.
